Spa 4 Hours SSP, SSK and SBK will be the queens of the ‘4 Hours of Spa Classic’
By setting up the ‘4 Hours of Spa Classic’ as an opening act for long-awaited 24H Spa EWC Motos, DG Sport is allowing so-called ‘post-classic’ machines, or ‘Youngtimers’, with 2 or 4-stroke engines, to find themselves in the spotlight as part of an event of global significance ! « Like the 6 Heures Moto, the ‘4 Hours of Spa Classic’ are primarily intended to allow non-professional teams to enter the world of endurance racing on acceptable financial terms, and in an environment filled with passion and conviviality, explains Florian Jupsin, Bike Manager at DG Sport. The appearance of the machines is free, but they must comply with the technical specifications listed in the regulations. »
Concretely, the ‘4 Hours of Spa Classic’ field will be divided into two distinct categories: ‘Young Timers Pro’ and ‘Young Timers’ ! The first category is accessible to teams entering a motorcycle shared between two or three riders, while a spare machine is accepted. The second one is for teams that enter one bike per rider. In this case, no spare machine will be allowed.
In each of the two categories, ‘Young Timers Pro’ and ‘Young Timers’, there will be machines falling under the SSP, SSK and SBK regulations. Enough to guarantee a panel as wide as it is varied, since the catalogue of accepted motorcycles includes countless models marked Aprilia, Bimota, Ducati, Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki and Triumph.
So it is a heterogeneous field, rich in 600cc, 750cc and 1000cc motorcycles, which will be expected the first weekend of June on ‘the most beautiful circuit in the world’, in order to celebrate an important part of endurance history, before the big start of the 24-hour race, bringing together the most recent productions of the various manufacturers involved.
